Microsoft has announced the preview of the new Office Universal apps for the Windows 10 Technical Preview. These are the versions of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and et cetera that are meant to work on all Windows devices; from smartphone to desktop. That being said, the mobile versions aren’t available for download just yet.
Windows 10 is meant to operate across any device it ends up installed on; and Microsoft is developing a series of Universal apps to go along with it. The apps are meant to function and feel the same no matter which device they are running on, and it looks like the technology giant is slowly easing people into the concept. That being said, the current preview of Office Universal apps doesn’t look very different. It could be because these are intended for the desktop and therefore have no need for dramatic change.
Microsoft is also preparing to provide more information about the upcoming Office 2016, which is due to ship in the second half of this year.
Windows Insiders who want to take a look at the new Office previews can find the downloads here, here, and here.
