We all know that the Apple Watch will be heading to consumers in “early 2015”, but when exactly is “early 2015”? At Apple’s earnings call earlier today, Tim Cook finally gave a timeline for the Apple Watch – it will ship in April.
Sadly, no exact date was unveiled but at least we know it’s only about three months away before Apple fans can finally get their hands on the company’s smartwatch. Unveiled in September last year, the Apple Watch features a minimalistic design. It comes with a Retina display and features a dial on the right side of the watch called Digital Crown, which can be used to navigate through the watch’s interface, as well as acts as the home button.
Like most smartwatches, it supports notifications and “glances” from the phone, and is expected to have 19 hours of battery life though, it’s been reported that Apple might be having trouble achieving that. The Apple Watch will also support Apple Pay, and is said to bring the NFC-enabled payment feature to older iPhones that does not have NFC on board.
Other features include Force Touch technology that can differentiate between a tap and a press, Taptic Engine that can provide haptic feedback on the wearer’s wrist, built-in speaker, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Sadly though, as with most Apple launches, don’t expect it to be available in Malaysia immediately. How many of you are going to get one once it gets launched?
