Samsung is making some changes to its fingerprint scanning system. Sources report that its next flagship, the Galaxy S6 will be using a touch-based fingerprint scanning system as opposed to the previous swipe-based system.
Samsung’s current fingerprint scanner requires users to swipe the sensor with their finger or thumb from top-to-bottom, although other manufacturers had opted for a touch based sensor on the home button for fingerprint recognition.
Samsung implemented biometric scanning to provide an additional way of securing a user’s smartphone and for authorising their Samsung account. Besides that, Paypal payments can also be authorised using the fingerprint system through the fingerprint-enabled Paypal app.
In addition to changing the sensors, Samsung will also be making the home button larger to provide a better experience and minimise errors in the fingerprint scanning process. That would indicate that it is not locating the biometric sensor underneath the camera again like on the Galaxy Note 4.
