OnePlus has officially announced that it will be entering the Indonesian market. Partnering with Lazada Indonesia, the OnePlus One will be available exclusively from the e-commerce’s website.
First reported on Amanz Indonesia, it wasn’t confirmed whether the OnePlus One will be officially sold by OnePlus; after all, Lazada also offers AP units of smartphones that are not officially covered by warranty. OnePlus has now confirmed that it will be officially arriving in Indonesia, with Lazada as an official retail partner.
Oddly enough, only the 64GB Sandstone Black variant will be sold in Indonesia. Priced at Rp 4,499,000 (about RM1,310), it is still relatively cheap in comparison to other flagship smartphones. While the invite system will still be in place, only Indonesian-specific invites can be used to secure a unit on Lazada Indonesia.
The OnePlus One will be sold exclusively on Lazada Indonesia’s website, there will also be a network of walk-in service centres throughout the country which will be managed by both Lazada and OnePlus. Call centres will also be managed to offer “immediate help” on the device.
OnePlus has previously announced that it had been planning to enter the Malaysian market by the end of 2014, but until now there is no further action from the company, which is pretty disappointing.
In any case, pre-orders for the OnePlus One will commence on the 27th of January 2015 on Lazada Indonesia’s website. To celebrate the launch of the smartphone in the country, this particular pre-order will not require any invite.
