Exploding Kittens, a project on Kickstarter, has been funded over US$1 million in less than seven hours. The creator, Elan Lee (Chief Design Officer of Xbox Entertainment Studios), only asked for a rather small amount of US$10,000 to fund the project. In the list of things that could potentially break the Internet, this is definitely a part of it.
This card game, aptly titled Exploding Kittens, only has one main objective: avoid losing the game by drawing an exploding kitten card. In order to do so, there are many other cards that can assist players to avoid a fiery death, such as peeking at cards before drawing, forcing opponents to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck.
Elan Lee isn’t the only one behind this project either. Alongside him are Matthew Inman of the Oatmeal and Shane Small, the Principal Art Director of Xbox Entertainment Studios. They believe that Exploding Kittens combine all the things that they’re best at creating, and judging from the reception of the card game, it surely seems like it.
There are still 29 more days to go before the Kickstarter project ends. The creators are also in the process of introducing more stretch goals for the enormous support from backers. If you would like to back this project up as well, visit the Kickstarter page for Exploding Kittens.
