Acer has unveiled the Chromebook 15, the first Chromebook to have a 15.6-inch display; and that’s not the only feature that’s interesting about this new offering from Acer. The Chromebook 15 will also be the first Chromebook to run on a 5th Generation Intel processor, the Celeron 2955U.
Other than having a Celeron 2955U under its hood, the Chromebook 15’s display is a 1366 x 768 resolution TN panel. While a TN panel isn’t necessarily the most desirable of display panels, the cost will be lower than a higher quality IPS display, which should keep the price of the Chromebook 15 low. As for storage, it will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of SSD storage.
For consumers who are looking for a better display, the Chromebook 15 will also be available with a 1080p display that boasts a wide viewing angle and an anti-glare coating. Unlike the 1366 x 768 model, this model will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB of SSD storage. As of now, these are all the details available for both models.
The 1366 x 768 model of the Acer Chromebook 15 retails at US$249 (about RM875) with no pricing available yet for the 1080p model. Availability has not been announced for either models.
