Known by most Dota enthusiasts and those in the local eSports community as Sharky, Raymond Wong Kie Yong who is currently representing a local Dota 2 team called G Guard has passed away in his sleep last night. However, the actual cause of his death is not yet known at the moment.
Despite being only 24 years old, Raymond is already one of the most decorated professional gamers not only in Malaysia but also in the region. Throughout his career that covers both DotA Allstars and Valve’s Dota 2, he was part of several well-known professional teams including iNc’Excello, MUFC, and Orange eSports before joining G Guard earlier this year.
Together with these teams, he made his mark at plenty of high profile tournaments throughout the globe including The International, ESWC Grand Finals, WCG Asian Championship, G1 Champions League, SMM Grand National DotA Tournament and many others.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and loved ones as well as his current and former teammates.
