Microsoft is apparently working on a new game streaming service similar to the one that is being tested by PlayStation. There are very few details about what the final product will look like, but it is known to be called Arcadia; and there are job openings on the team.
Arcadia will apparently be built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud, but that is not entirely unexpected. Many expect that it will be used to stream more than just games to devices running a Microsoft operating system. Rumours have been floating around that it will also be used to stream Android apps and games as well. This is due to the job listing mentioning that experience in Android and iOS development is a plus.
It is unlikely that any further details will be unveiled in the near future, at least not before the release of Windows 10 and getting it on all the platforms that Microsoft intends to get them on. It could be that Arcadia will be used to tie the platforms together in the end, by making it easier to retrieve apps from the multiple platforms for use.
