Ever wish that you are able to save YouTube videos for offline viewing on your smartphone? Well, users in certain Asian countries are now able to do exactly that thanks to a new feature that Google has launched earlier today for YouTube app on Android and iOS.
First teased during the launch of Android One devices for Indian market, it is fairly easy to access the feature. All one has to do is tap on the download icon underneath the said video, choose the preferred video quality/file size, and let the download commences. The video will then be listed in the Offline section of the YouTube app and can be accessed up to 48 hours without Internet connection.
However, this function is currently available only in India, Indonesia, and Philippines. In terms of contents, much of YouTube videos that are popular in these countries can now be enjoyed through offline playback.
Well, we hope that it will be made available in other countries as well especially Malaysia since it is such a convenient feature to have and might even help users save some of their precious data bandwidth.
