Calling all shopaholics and those of you who wish to sell your unused and second-hand / “preloved” goods, Carousell, a popular marketplace app from Singapore, has officially made its way into Malaysia. For shopaholics, shopping has just gotten a whole lot easier, and for those who own shops or are simply doing your year-end spring-cleaning, selling is as easy as snap and share – Carousell says that it takes just 30 seconds or even less to put an item out for sale.
Available for free, Carousell is basically a social network for buying and selling of things. If you have some things you’d like to sell, be it a used gadget, or that brand new dress you’ve never gotten the chance to wear, just snap and post onto Carousell with a description and price. You can include up to four photos on an item to sell. Buyers can like, comment or make an offer for your item and on top of that, there’s also a built-in chat feature that makes it easier for you to communicate and deal with potential buyers.
Buying on Carousell is just as easy as well, items are all sorted out into categories like “for her”, “for him”, “beauty products”, “muslimah fashion”, “lifestyle gadgets”, “cars & motors”, and more, so you can easily find things that you like, or just use the search bar located on the top. Some products are used (you can easily chat with the seller to find out the condition of the item), but there are also brand new items up for sale so browse around and you might land yourself some sweet deal. Additionally as buyers, you can also follow different sellers and be one of the first to be notified. You can also post up things that you are looking for in the “looking for” section so sellers can easily reach out to you.
Carousell has actually been in Malaysia since January 2014 and has received an encouraging response from Malaysians. Since then, their listing numbers have been doubling every two to three months, and today marks their official launch in Malaysia. To date, about 2.5 years since their official launch in Singapore, Carousell’s community has created over 8 million listings, with over 2 million items sold.
