Huawei has today announced that its latest smartphone, the G7, is now available in Malaysia. The mid-range device, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, is priced at RM999.
Announced globally at IFA 2014 in September, the G7 is Huawei’s latest addition to the G series of smartphones. Sporting a sleek metallic body, Huawei claims the G7 is a “testament to outstanding craftsmanship”. It is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 410 1.2Gz quad core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage (supports up to 32GB microSD cards), and has a 3000mAh battery as well as a 5.5-inch 720p INCELL IPS display.
While it is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the G7 is running on EMUI 3.0, Huawei’s latest Android ROM which actually features navigational buttons from Android 5.0 Lollipop. There’s also a pretty extensive visual overhaul from Huawei’s previous EMUI 2.0 on some of the older Huawei smartphones in the market.

Camera wise, the Ascend G7 has a 13MP BSI camera with f2.0 aperture. It has a 28mm wide angle lens, IMAGESmart Engine 2.0, and is capable of capturing 1080p videos. The front has a 5MP camera with 88-degree wide angle lens and of course, a beauty mode for both front and rear cameras. This beauty mode even works for both pictures and videos. Other camera features include Ultra Snapshot that captures instant pictures in only 1.4 seconds, and a Lytro-like All-Focus feature that allows you to shoot now and focus later. Finally, this LTE-capable device also has a dual-mic array for noise suppression.
The Huawei G7 is now available at all Huawei authorised retailers nationwide in Metallic Moonlight Silver for a retail price of RM999.
