This may not be a major change, but Google has just added a new feature to its Gmail, making it a whole lot easier to edit your documents wherever you are. Starting immediately, if you receive a document, presentation or spread sheet, there will be a new button that lets you make edits directly on Google Drive.
It doesn’t matter if the file format saved is from Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint or Excel), the edit button will automatically convert those files so you can edit them on Google Docs, Slides or Sheets with just a click of a button. Just install a Chrome extension and you won’t even need Microsoft Office installed on your computer to make edits to a Microsoft document.
On top of that, in the same update, Google now allows you to impot 15 new Office formats including presentation show files (pps, ppsx), macro-enabled files, and template files, and they all come with improved charts, images and tablet support.
