Lenovo Malaysia has just launched a new range of products to suit every enterprise needs that Lenovo claims will appeal to consumers as well. The new products are the refreshed ThinkPad Helix, ThinkPad Tablet 10, ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One (TIO), and ThinkStation P Series workstations.
Let’s start off with the new ThinkPad Helix. This convertible laptop tips the scale at 1.35kg with a thickness of only 0.38 inches, making it 15% thinner than its predecessor. Under the hood, it’s powered by the new Intel Core M-5Y71 processor clocked at 1.2GHz ( Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz) and 4GB of RAM. The display is an 11.6-inch 1920 x 1080 touch display, and when it comes to storage, it has a 256GB SSD. The Helix also comes with a stylus and Windows 8.1 Pro installed. Consumers will have two choices of keyboard docks: one with a battery, and one without a battery for consumers who wish for a lighter laptop.
Moving on, we have the aluminium constructed ThinkPad Tablet 10. It has a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 touch display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Powering it is the Intel Atom Z3795 (1.59GHz, Turbo Boost up to 2.39GHz) with 2GB or 4GB of RAM. The ThinkPad Tablet 10 also has 64GB of eMMC storage, a choice of Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8.1 installed, and a stylus.
Next on the list is the ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One 23, a all-in-one PC that allows consumers to upgrade the CPU – which is any compatible ThinkCentre Tiny – and display separately. This is done by having the Tiny slotted at the back of the monitor that can be easily accessed and removed by regular consumers. In any case, the monitor has a TN panel with a 1080p resolution, which should be more than enough for the average user.
In addition to the products above, Lenovo has also unveiled the ThinkStation P series workstations. Lenovo claims that the P Series workstations – which have a modular design – can be disassembled by a 7-year-old in less than 10 minutes; while that may be an exaggeration, the parts are indeed very easily replaced. All P series workstations has a patented Tri-Channel cooling that ensures all parts are adequately cooled.
In the P series, the workstation with the most expansion slots and configuration capability is the P900. It is fitted with two Intel Xeon EP processors (with choices up to the E5-2600 v3), a choice of graphics card up to the NVIDIA Tesla K40, 16 DIMM slots (up to 2133MHz), and a 1300W PSU. In terms of expansion slots, it has four PCIe x16 slots, two open ended PCIe x4 slots, two open ended PCIe x1 slots, and two flex connectors.
