HP has recently revamped the Envy x2 with two new variants to choose from and a new processor to replace the Intel Atom of the original model. This Windows 8.1 tablet is eerily similar to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 down to the multi-angle stand and keyboard cover.
The HP Envy x2 tablet is now powered by the new Intel Core M, with two choices of touchscreen display size: 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch. The 13.3-inch model has a resolution of 1366 x 768, which can be upgraded to 1920 x 1080 to equal the 15.6-inch model’s resolution. Oddly enough, the 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 screen has a brightness of 400 nits, while the 15.6 only measures at 200 nits.
There are other specifications that vary between these two models, such as the storage type. While the 13.3-inch model has a selection of 128GB or 256GB of SSD, the 15.6-inch model only has the option of a 500GB hybrid hard drive with no upgrade option available. In terms of audio, both models are equipped with BeatsAudio, but the 15.6-inch model has quad-speakers while the 13.3-inch model only has dual-speakers.
Other specifications are the same for both sizes of the Envy x2. It can be equipped with either the Core M-5Y10 or 5Y70, a selection of 4GB to 8GB of RAM, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI output, and a headphone jack.
While the Envy x2 is very similar to the Surface Pro 3, the Envy x2 is heavier and thicker. However, unlike the Surface Pro 3’s keyboard, the cover keyboard that comes with the Envy x2 is a backlit keyboard with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling the use of the keyboard without being attached to the tablet.
The Envy x2 retails from US$750 (RM2520) for the 15.6-inch model and US$800 (RM2690) for the 13.3-inch model. The price difference is probably due to the different type of storage used. There is no word yet on the availability of the new Envy x2 in Malaysia. Check out the video below for a better look at the Envy x2.
