PayPal is now allowing Pebble owners to use the service through their smartwatch. The new app will allow users to pay using a code at retailers that accept the electronic transaction, or just receive payment notifications without glancing at a phone. Considering that Pebble is the only smartwatch that is regularly glimpsed in public, it is perhaps no surprise that PayPal has remembered to cater to the platform.
Pebble is not the first smartwatch to receive a PayPal app; Android Wear has already had the option for the last five months, and it is not difficult to imagine that the Apple Watch will also have a PayPal app at some point. The Pebble app will also assist users in locating places that accept PayPal in the physical store, although that may be of limited use here in Malaysia.
At the very least, Pebble owners won’t be feeling that the smartwatch is left out from the development cycle.
