Illegear has unveiled the Illegear S5, a customisable laptop based on the Clevo P650. The S5 is set to take on its competition with the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970M underneath its thin chassis.
Illegear’s latest offering comes with a suite of customisation options. For starters, the 15.6-inch display of the S5 comes with a choice of 4K resolution displays by Sharp or Samsung, or a full HD 1920 x 1080 anti-glare display as standard. Powering the S5 is an Intel Core i7-4710HQ with RAM selections of up to 32GB DDR3L. GPU wise, the Illegear S5 is equipped with the GTX 970M on a 25mm thick chassis.
Cooling shouldn’t be an issue for the S5. The laptop comes with a triple-heatsink, triple-heatpipe, and triple-fan setup, ensuring that this laptop stays cool at all times. The S5 will also come with three USB 3.0 ports, two mini DisplayPort, and an HDMI output.
In terms of storage, consumers will be spoilt for choice with a quad-drive setup available in the S5. Customers can choose between traditional HDD, SSD, or a next-gen M.2 SSDs for a total combined storage size of up to 4TB.
As for the pricing, the Illegear S5 will retail from RM5299. At that price, the S5 will come with the Core i7-4710HQ CPU, the GTX 970M GPU, 8GB of RAM, 500GB SSHD, and a 2-year limited warranty. Customers should also keep in mind that the S5 comes with no OS installed.
The Illegear S5 is available right now. Those looking for something with more power will be happy to note that there will also be a GTX 980M version of the S5 that will be available at the end of this month or early December. This version would add 3mm of thickness to the chassis, which shouldn’t be too cumbersome for the S5’s already thin chassis. For more information, check out the Illegear S5’s product page.
