Xiaomi has officially opened its first Mi Exclusive Service Centre in Malaysia. Aptly situated in Plaza Low Yat in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the Mi Exclusive Service Centre promises to offer world-class service and support for owners of Mi smartphones and accessories. This includes a two-hour turnaround time for smartphone services and repairs, a hallmark aimed in all Xiaomi Exclusive Service Centres.
Located in the fourth floor of Malaysia’s premier gadget mall, the Mi Exclusive Service Centre is the sixth authorised service centres in the country. Besides a service centre, the Mi Exclusive Service Centre will also play host to various Xiaomi products – most of which are not yet available in the country. These include the coloured 5,200mAh and 10,400mAh Mi Power Banks, the Mi Pad and the sexy Mi TV 2. Various Mi Bunny plush dolls are scattered around the centre, and customers are welcome to try and experience the devices for themselves.
One question that immediately popped up at the press event earlier was on the subject of AP sets, and whether owners of Xiaomi products purchased from retailers sourced from China are able to send their devices here. Steve Vickers, General Manager for Xiaomi Malaysia, stated that this may or may not be possible, depending on the defective part that requires servicing. Xiaomi phones sold in China and those sold internationally usually pack different components and as such, the Mi Exclusive Service Centre may not have the components in stock.
For that reason, the Mi Exclusive Service Centre will only accept devices purchased in Malaysia for repairs and support.
In addition to the official opening of the new service centre, Xiaomi also announced its next product coming our way: the Redmi Note 4G. Looking exactly the same as the previous 3G dual-SIM model, the Redmi Note 4G has had quite a bit of an overhaul with its internal hardware. The Redmi Note 4G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz quad-core chipset, and is a single-SIM only device. The Redmi Note 4G will be available in early December, and will retail for RM589 – RM80 more than the older model, which will no longer be sold in this market.
For more information on the Redmi Note 4G, the official product page on Xiaomi Malaysia’s website is now live.
