Kingston has raised the bar with the announcement of a new line of high performance, high capacity Class 10 UHS-I SD and microSD cards. The new SD card has a capacity of up to 256GB while the microSD card has up to 128GB; very impressive sizes in a small package.
The new Kingston Class 10 UHS-I SD card is capable of read speed up to 90mb/s and write speed up to 45mb/s. In terms of capacity, the SD card has a choice of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and the top-of-the-line 256GB. If you’re an avid photographer or uses a GoPro camera extensively, these cards should be on your holiday shopping list.
The Class 10 UHS-I microSD card, on the other hand, is available in 4GB, 8GB,16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. Thanks to its Class 10 UHS-1 certification, the microSD card has a minimum data transfer rate of 10mb/s.
While both of these memory cards are impressive and very drool-worthy, take note that these are SDHC/SDXC flash cards that were introduced in 2006 and 2009 respectively. Make sure that your device actually supports these formats before purchasing these cards; especially if they are devices before the introduction of SDHC/SDXC.
The new Kingston SD and microSD cards will come with a lifetime warranty and free technical support. No pricing and availability has been announced yet by Kingston. For more information, head on to the respective SD card and microSD card product page.
