Sure, Android 5.0 Lollipop update might take a while to reach your Android device, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make it look and feel like a Lollipop. Google has just released a brand new app called Messenger, that wants to transform your standard SMS/MMS app, giving it a Material Design-makeover.
Available on the Play Store, Messenger is actually an SMS/MMS app for Android 5.0 Lollipop devices, but can be downloaded and used on any Android devices running on 4.1 or higher. Not to be confused with Google Hangouts, Messenger is just a regular SMS/MMS app, which allows users to send texts, or take pictures, videos and even audio messages right from the app itself, and send it as an MMS. In addition to that, Messenger also makes it a lot easier for you to block out a number or turn off notifications for certain people.
How is different from your SMS/MMS app? Well, it isn’t, but if you love Google’s Material Design and wish to have a standard experience on your Android device, Messenger looks very similar to the company’s new Inbox app and even the latest version of Gmail.
