Ask any Malaysian football fans: they most probably wished that someday Malaysia will once again have players as good as the late Mokhtar Dahari to help bring Malaysian football back to its glory days. So far, nobody has ever comes close to this man who is really in a league of his own during his time with Selangor and the Malaysian national team for more than 10 years before he passed away on 11 July 1991 at the young age of 37 years old.
In a special tribute to the football legend who is also fondly known by fans as SuperMokh, Google Malaysia has released a doodle featuring Mokhtar on Google’s front page in conjunction with his 61st birthday today.
The illustration on the doodle depicted a huge banner in a stadium that features Mokhtar in his national football team jersey and the iconic jersey number 10. While we don’t know for sure but we do wonder if this doodle was inspired by this particular banner that Ultras Malaya supporters group used during AFF Suzuki Cup 2012:
Nevertheless, it is a fitting tribute to the legend who many considered as the one of the greatest Malaysian footballer to ever live.
Meanwhile, this is not the first that Google Malaysia has actually come out with a special doodle featuring well-known Malaysian figure. For example, Google has honoured the late filmmaker Yasmin Ahmad with a doodle for her 56th birthday earlier this year. So, anyone want to guess who will be next on Google Malaysia’s list?
