About two weeks ago, Oppo announced the world’s slimmest smartphone, the Oppo R5, that measures at only 4.85mm, and it looks like in about a month’s time, they might be dethroned from that title. Vivo has just teased the Vivo X5 Max smartphone that is rumoured to measure at only 4.75mm thin.
The teaser was posted onto Vivo’s Weibo and apart from being ultra thin, it looks like there might be some fancy audio technology built in as well. The accompanying text on the teaser image roughly translates into “thin heartstrings”, and the theme of the image revolves around music with musical notes around and what looks like music staff lines.
Vivo did not mention anything else, but the device has been brewing in the rumour mill for quite some time now and is said to measure at only 4.75mm thin, just a teeny tiny bit slimmer than the Oppo R5. It is rumoured to pack a 5.5” Full HD screen on board, and will most likely be powered by an octa-core processor from MediaTek aith 2GB of RAM. Other rumoured specs include 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, and a metal build. GizChina believes that Vivo would launch the Vivo X5 Max this December, along with a new Xplay smartphone.

Will you get a smartphone that is that slim? The Oppo R5 already feels pretty awkward to hold on to, I can’t imagine how the X5 Max would feel like.
