Four years after its last instalment, the next title in the Just Cause series, Just Cause 3, has been announced. The new game is much like its predecessors, which will be set in an open-world sandbox with an emphasis on chaotic destruction and vertical gameplay.
The third instalment in the Just Cause series will feature improved airborne mechanics, involving parachutes and grappling hooks as the game places a strong focus on vertical maneuverability coupled with the series’ signature player-induced destruction and mayhem. The game will be set in a fictional location based in the Mediterranean, while the scale is also about the same as Just Cause 2’s map but will feature more volumetric terrain which adds to the vertical dimension of the game.
Roland Lesterlin, director at Avalanche studios said that the Just Cause games have always been at their best when the player finds themselves in the air. As a result, the developers have tried to create new ways in which players can express their creativity while airborne. The developers also said that Just Cause 3 will be strictly single player only despite the recent release of a mod that brought multiplayer capabilities to its Just Cause 2.
Just Cause 3 will be released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Unfortunately, there is no support for older consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
