Heroes of the Storm is adding three (or five) new heroes to its roster. Two of which were noticeably missing from the Technical Alpha, while the other one (or three) are a reference to a classic Blizzard title that is rarely remembered. Two new Egyptian themed maps also join the game as it prepares to enter the closed beta stage.
Jaina “Not-Crystal-Maiden” Proudmoore and Thrall are now playable heroes, although they appear to be modeled on the more recognisable Warcraft III designs instead of the more recent World of Warcraft versions. Jaina appears to be somewhat similar to the Crystal Maiden from Dota, who used her character model anyway; bringing Heroes of the Storm almost full circle now.
Blizzard has also decided to include The Lost Vikings into the game. Taken from the classic Blizzard title, The Lost Vikings, these three heroes appear to be separate entities from each other. There hasn’t been any information about them beyond a short appearance in the trailer, but it is good to see the developer make some references to its own less famous past.
Heroes of the Storm will be moving into a closed beta test on 13th January 2015, and signups for the beta are already open.
