It looks like Google is not only busy preparing the release of Android 5.0 Lollipop, the company is busy preparing all its apps too. Google has already released a brand new Inbox app, is releasing an update to Calendar, and now it’s Google Maps’ turn.
The Mountain View company has just posted on its blog saying that over the next few days, they will be updating Google Maps for Android and iOS, giving its mapping app a brand new design complete with bright colors. On top of interface changes, Google also improved the app to make it easier for users to navigate around – users in the U.S. can even make restaurant reservations right from the app itself.
Another interesting feature is integration with Uber app. The new Google Maps will be able to show Uber’s pickup time and price for their route in walking and transit directions in Google Maps. Google says that this option will appear if you have Uber app installed and where available, so I guess it should work in Malaysia too, let’s keep our fingers crossed because that would definitely be a very useful feature.
The update will be released for both Android and iOS devices over the next couple of days so stay tuned to your respective app stores to check for updates.
