We have seen the Acer V15 Nitro Black Edition before, but never like this. Acer has announced an interesting upgrade to the laptop: instead of a full HD resolution, the new V Nitro Black Edition would come with a 15.6-inch 3840×2160 IPS display – yes, a 4K resolution.
The other components, however, are pretty much unchanged bar the RAM. The Acer V Nitro Black Edition still comes with the same Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU, 16GB of DDR3 RAM instead of 12GB on the V15 Nitro Black Edition, and the very same NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M GPU. With an upgraded display resolution, it is unclear why Acer did not upgrade the GPU as well to cope with the extra pixel count.
In terms of storage, the V Nitro Black Edition would come with a 1TB hard drive along with a 256GB SSD, so a speedy boot up can be expected. Connectivity options available on the laptop are three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI out, SD card reader, AC power connector, and a headphone jack. As usual, Windows 8.1 is installed in this laptop.
The V Nitro Black Edition would ship along with a free copy of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which is to be released on 11th November. The GPU shipped with the laptop would definitely struggle with frame-rates on higher settings at 1080p (and most definitely at 4K) as it falls under the recommended requirement of the game.
The Acer V Nitro Black Edition will be priced at $1500 (RM5000) and is going to hit US retailers later this month.
