The next big title from 2K Games is currently in the alpha testing stages, and the publisher is handing out alpha access to Evolve for everyone who owns a copy of X-com: Enemy Unknown. As the most highly anticipated game for next year, this is an opportunity for fans to get in on the monster hunting action early.
Evolve is an asymmetrical first person shooter that pits a team of four hunters against a single giant monster. Both sides are controlled by humans, and both hunters and monsters are able to choose from a variety of archetypes. Early game play videos show a futuristic setting with gameplay that merges Capcom’s Monster Hunter and Valve’s Left 4 Dead.
While the current code is available for alpha access, there is no word on whether it will also work for when the game enters the beta phase. Anyone who wants to try playing will have to acknowledge that it is a very early build and, despite what the gameplay trailers have shown, there will be plenty of unfinished sections and bugs.
Steam users should see the game in their library by now.
