Apart from Oppo N3, the Chinese manufacturer has also launched another new smartphone today in the form of Oppo R5. If N3 featured a motorized self-rotating camera, R5 is being touted as the world’s slimmest smartphone at 4.85mm.
Within its hand-polished aluminium alloy chassis, the Oppo R5 is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 octa-core 64-bit processor alongside 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. R5 also comes together with a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p AMOLED display that has a pixel density of 423ppi. To avoid the smartphone from overheating, it is equipped with what Oppo called as Cool Element which utilized phase-change material to dissipate heat from the device.
Unfortunately, users will need to make do with the phone’s 16GB internal storage permanently since it does not support microSD card. The usual 3.5mm audio jack is also missing from R5 but Oppo did include a USB adaptor to address that issue.
Moving on to photography, R5’s rear camera is equipped with a 13-megapixels Sony Exmor IMX214 sensor, F2.0 5-elements lens and LED flash while the front camera features a 5-megapixels sensor. Just like N3, R5 is able to shoot 4K videos at 30fps and it has also been equipped with Pure Image 2.0+ technology which provides it a number of scene modes including the 50 megapixels Ultra HD mode.
Not to forget, the device also comes with 2000mAh battery and supports Oppo’s own VOOC Mini rapid charging system. Carrying a general price tag of USD 499 (RM 1,631), Oppo R5 will be priced at RM 1,598 instead once it is released in our market between late November and early December.
