According to rumours on Weibo, Vivo is working on the world’s thinnest smartphone. The Chinese manufacturer also held the record for the thinnest smartphone with the Vivo x3, now held by the Gionee Elife S5.1 and also the very first smartphone with a 2k resolution display in the Vivo Xplay 3s. Their latest entry into the world of smartphones comes in the form of the Vivo Xshot.
Vivo seems to want in on the world’s thinnest smartphone race as they’re rumoured to be working on a 3.8mm thin smartphone. To put that into perspective, two of those phones stacked on top of one another equates to an iPhone 5 as shown in the picture below.
Of course, all this could just be rumours as nothing else has been mentioned besides the dimensions of the phone. The form factor of the phone could prove to be an issue when it comes to other hardware components such as the battery life or processor.
Many smartphones today are already portable enough for practical usage and the race to manufacturing the world’s thinnest smartphone seems to be becoming more redundant.
