For a lot of music lovers out there, Spotify proved to be an inexpensive way to access to their favourite music regardless of classic tunes or the latest chart busters. Furthermore, the monthly fees for the service in Malaysia is cheaper than United States at RM 14.90.
Soon, that fee might be even cheaper as Spotify has announced its new Spotify Family plan that allow users to share their subscription plan at half the normal price per additional user.
Despite being a shared subscription plan, the additional users will still able to enjoy all the experiences that Spotify Premium plan has to offer just like a standard standalone subscription. That include access through multiple devices, offline playback, and advert free.
In United States, Spotify Family costs USD 14.99 (RM 50) for two users, USD 19.99 (RM 66) for three users, USD 24.99 (RM 82) for four users, and USD 29.99 (RM 99) for the maximum set of five users. Since the monthly fee for single users costs USD 9.99 (RM 33), that summed up to USD 5 (RM 17) per additional users.
Since Spotify has yet announced the pricing and the launch date of Spotify Family plan for Malaysia, we have no clue on the actual fee for our market. Then again, based on the 50% saving that Spotify Family promises for each users, we predicted that the monthly fee will somewhere around RM 23 for two users, RM 31 for three users, RM 39 for four users, and RM 47 for five users.
These fees are based on the assumption that it will cost RM 8 per additional users. As you can see, Malaysian users especially those that are staying or working together will certainly able to save a lot of money through the new Spotify Family plan but then again, let’s wait for the actual fee structure from Spotify Malaysia once the service is ready to roll out in our shores as well as other markets throughout the world in coming weeks.
