For those of you who have been waiting for Celcom to announce their BlackBerry Passport device bundle, here it is. The telco is now offering the latest BlackBerry smartphone from as low as RM788 when you sign up with a contract with them; regular retail price is RM2,399.
Sign up for a 24 months contract under one of Celcom’s postpaid plans, and you can purchase the BlackBerry Passport at a subsidized price. The telco is offering the Passport with its regular Celcom First voice plans paired together with a 5GB data plan, or you can pick a data-centric plan instead.
BlackBerry Passport was only unveiled about 3 weeks ago. Aimed at the “mobile professionals”, the Passport has a unique square design, featuring a 4.5” square 1440 x 1440 display, allowing it to be “near optimal” for text reading – it shows 60 characters per line (66 characters per line is the print standard). This means that reading through documents and spreadsheets will make much more sense on its square display than on rectangular displays we see today. On the inside, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.2GHz quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. Other specs include a new 13MP camera sensor with OIS on board, and a whopping 3,450mAh battery on board.
