Final Fantasy XV is beginning to be set up as a story that takes places during a road trip. Hero Noctis and his three buddies just driving across the countryside having an adventure. This has lead the internet to come up with a series of memes by photoshopping new backgrounds into press pictures. FFXV director Hajime Tabata has decided to help these people along by releasing more assets from the game.
Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto is not too fond of the internet’s creations, although he has not tried to put a stop to it. Tabata on the other hand appears to love what people have done with his work and is encouraging them to continue. It could be that he is savvy enough to recognise good PR when he sees it, but it shouldn’t hurt the marketing for FFXV if people are constantly talking about it.
The newly released images are provided in the PNG format with the transparency turned on, making it so much easier for fans to mess around with the artwork. Siliconera (in the link below) has a collection of the new artwork for download; in case anyone wants to give it a try.
