Electronic Arts has made an extremely surprising move while announcing the next patch to Sims 4. New content is being made available for free, and it includes the swimming pools that were so noticeably missing from the game at launch. There is no news on toddlers, but considering the speed that EA is putting out this new DLC, there is little reason to complain.
Some additions to Sims 4 are already being rolled out to players, notably Star Wars costumes that allow Sims to dress up as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, or Yoda. Ghosts will also be appearing now when a non-playable Sim dies on the lot. Players will also be able to befriend the restless soul and even get it to help around the house. New eye colours are also being available to those who update their game now.
A November patch will see the return of swimming pools to the Sims franchise, a feature that has long been considered a staple. It will also provide new career paths for the Sims to pursue, although EA did not go into detail about what these careers will be.
It is refreshing to see the Sims 4 receive new content without it being hidden behind a paywall, despite worries that EA would be charging players for the content that had originally shipped with the base game.
