Barcelona striker Luis Suarez’s ban from all football apparently extends past the barriers of the real world and all the way into Electronic Arts’ FIFA 15. Players beginning the game in charge of Barcelona will receive a message saying that he is banned from games until 26 October; which is incidentally the same time his real ban ends.
It doesn’t stop there either. Players of FIFA Ultimate Team will be unable to locate Suarez in the transfer market until his ban ends. Any searches on the transfer market for Luis Suarez will not return any results. Suarez, who was banned for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup, is currently serving ban from all footballing activities. However, this is the first time that “all footballing activites” has extended into video games as well.
While this turn of events is an interesting nod to the amount of realism and detail that has gone into building FIFA 15 Ultimate Team, the game has been experiencing some teething problems as players report issues with connections, servers being down, and not receiving the in-game currency reward for playing games.
