Last week, it was revealed that Samsung has decided to cease the sale of laptops and Chromebook in Europe due to the changing needs and demands of the market. The report made us curious about the status of Samsung Notebooks in Malaysia as well especially after we realized that the Mobile Computing section has disappeared from Samsung Malaysia’s official website.
This morning, our suspicion proved to be true.
In a respond to our enquiry last week, Samsung Malaysia has officially confirmed that Samsung Notebooks will no longer be available in our market in this brief statement:
Samsung Malaysia, as with our European and Southeast Asian counterparts, has discontinued the sale of laptops in the country.
In this fast-moving consumer technology industry, we always endeavour to do our best to meet the growing demands of our users, and we look forward to introduce more innovative products that we have in the pipeline to showcase to our consumers.
Now that Samsung has pulled the plug off its notebook division in Europe and Southeast Asia, it made us wonder: is Samsung pulling out of notebook business in markets throughout the world altogether? If that’s the case, then this might looked like another repeat of what happened to Sony VAIO earlier this year.
