The square screened BlackBerry Passport will be available in Malaysia starting from next month as a Celcom exclusive until the end of October. After this time, the unusually shaped smartphone will arrive on other telcos and appearing off contract in stores. Celcom will begin selling the phone on 10 October, for RM639 on contract.
Announced late last night, the BlackBerry Passport is currently being positioned as a device centered on productivity. It is also trying something other than the usual rectangular screened candy bar design that dominated smartphones these days. Fans of the design will be happy to see the usual physical keyboard in place, although BlackBerry has implemented a few updates to further increase the functions available to users.
The BlackBerry Passport will be arriving on other telcos from 1 November, although the pricing and plans for these carriers is of yet unknown. It will also be appearing unlocked for RM2,399 at the same time. For more information about the BlackBerry Passport, check out our coverage of the official announcement.
