One of the best things of iOS 8 would definitely have to be the ability to use third-party keyboards like SwiftKey, but it looks like things has just gotten a little more interesting. PopKey recently unveiled a custom keyboard app for iOS 8 that allows you to use animated GIFs instead of plain text or even emoticon.
Why use the boring old text or those tiny emoticons to show your friends how you really feel about what they just said, PopKey swaps the traditional keyboard with a host of pre-loaded GIFs but if you’re not happy with what they offer, you can even upload your favorite ones.
Like how you would bring up the emoticon keyboard on iOS, just tap the globe icon to select PopKey. You can browse through the GIFs or search by keywords like “facepalm” or “Friends”. To select a GIF, just long press it and copy it, and paste into your conversation and from the demo video, it looks like you can view the animated GIF right on iMessage without having to open up a browser.
Sadly, the app isn’t available just yet. PopKey’s website is available and you can key in your email address to have them inform you when it launches. How many of you think that using animated GIFs in chat messages is an awesome idea?
