U Mobile Launches Ambitious Effort To Acquire Two Million New Customers By Year End

U Mobile 2 Million

After announcing its 3G and LTE expansion plan last week, it turns out that U Mobile is not going to just stop there. The company announced earlier today that it has planned yet another initiative that actually has a very ambitious objective: to obtain two million new customers by 31 December 2014.

Called Vision 2 Million, the telco is already planning to reveal something special to its customers if U Mobile actually able to meet its target. To accomplish this target, the U Mobile is introducing two campaigns: a refreshed Mobile Number Portability (MNP) promotion and a brand new Friend Referral Programme.

Switching to U Mobile will now provide new prepaid customers with one year of free internet. While the data cap is a low 250MB, it’s still worth not having to pay any money for. To make it easier to port over, the telco has introduced an online MNP service. The service will allow users to switch to U Mobile by filling in an online form; saving time from having to travel to any physical location. Of course, potential new users will still have to buy a SIM pack on their own.

The Friend Referral Programme (also known as Member Get Member) is U Mobile’s way of encouraging its users to invite their friends to use the telco. Friends who begin using U Mobile can enter their introducers’ code. Doing thing will provide the friend and introducer with RM3 credit; plus the introducer will also receive 10% of the reload amount made by their friend for the next six months. Current U Mobile customers can retrieve their Friend Referral Code by dialling *114# or  by visiting the U Mobile website.

If U Mobile succeeds in achieving it’s goal of attracting two million new customers, it has promised that it will provide customers free on-net calls and internet for one day on 1 January 2015.

U Mobile’s Vision 2 Million has indeed raised our curiosity as gaining two million new customers within the next three and half months is certainly not an easy task. In order to do that, it is quite obvious that the telco needs some major pulling power that it can use to attract new customers en masse.
