SanDisk has announced that its new line of Ultra II solid state drives are now available in Malaysia. These SSDs are designed to cater to the customer who is concerned with battery life and power efficiency. An enhanced SSD Dashboard allows users to constantly monitor the performance of the drive, while also making it easier to obtain firmware upgrades.
The SanDisk Ultra II SSDs promise a performance upgrade of 28 times better than that provided by a regular spindle drive; along with a 15-percent increase in battery life. These SSDs have sequential read speeds of up to 550MB/s and write speeds of up to 500MB/s; which, like all similar drives, is intended to decrease startup and load times. Equipped with an nCache 2.0 technology, it utilises a two-tiered caching architecture to optimise speed and endurance.
SanDisk’s Dashboard also provides additional features like the ability to quickly clone an old drive into the new SSD; provided there is capacity to do so of course. This includes an installed operating system and drivers to save time in re-installed programmes after the change of storage device. Absolute LoJack is included in the package to provide security in the event the Ultra II equipped device ends up stolen. It would appear that the SSD has the LoJack tracking system installed, which would make it possible to be located by the service.
The SanDisk Ultra II SSD comes with a 3-year warranty and is now available in Malaysia. It will be offered in capacities of 120GB (MSRP RM320), 240GB (MSRP RM450), 480GB (MSRP RM860), and 960GB (MSRP RM1,700). For more information, visit the SanDisk Ultra II SSD product page.
