It looks like Google has finally decided to extend the refund window on its Play Store from 15 minutes to a good 2 hours. The change has just been updated on Google’s support page for “return paid apps & games”.
This means that if you’ve paid for an app that you don’t like or does not perform up to your expectations, and it’s still within the 2 hours gap, you will be able to see a Refund button right by the app on the Play Store. Tap on that, follow the instructions and Google will give you a full refund. If you have exceeded the two hours window, you’ll see an “Uninstall” button instead and in order to get a refund, you’ll need to go through a whole other process. Do note that you will not be able to request refund for the same app more than once.
Previously, the refund window was only 15 minutes, which is a little too quick, especially if it’s a big app that you’d like to try out. If you would like to get refund for an app but you’ve exceeded the 2 hours window, or you would like to get refund for an in-app purchase, check out our previous post for a step-by-step guideline. The guideline also helps you get a refund for the Apple App Store.
