[Update: New countries added for the wave 2 launch happening on 26 September 2014]
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have finally been unveiled by Apple early this morning. Both devices are scheduled to arrive in selected markets, namely U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the U.K., starting from 19 September 2014 and preorders will begin a week earlier on 12 September 2014.
As usual, both iPhone 6 will be available in gold, silver or space gray and will be available in the US for a subsidised price starting from USD$199 for the iPhone 6, and from USD$299 for iPhone 6 Plus. The contract-free retail price will start from USD$649 (RM2,080) and USD$749 (RM2,400) respectively. However, the US is known to have a cheaper price compared to the rest of the countries, so here’s a collection of the new iPhone 6 price around the world – in wave 1 at least, compared with the launch price of the iPhone 5s. We’ve included new countries so check the table out right after the break.
Now that Apple has announced that they will be launching the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in over 20 more countries this Friday, 26 September 2014, here’s a compilation of all the price in these new countries.

As you can see from the comparison above, most of the retail price of the iPhone 6 (4.7”) is the same as the retail price of iPhone 5s during its launch. Of course, with the removal of 32GB variant and the addition of 128GB, the new iPhones can be considered as cheaper for the 64GB and 128GB options because you’re paying the same price for double the storage.
So how much will the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus be priced in Malaysia? If everything remains the same, here’s our estimation:

Estimating the price this time round is a whole lot easier than estimating the iPhone 5s price at launch. I guess the introduction of Touch ID fingerprint reader on the home button is to be blamed for a more expensive iPhone 5s at launch, which is significantly more expensive than previous generation iPhones (in Malaysia at least). Now that the Apple is using the same Touch ID sensor on the new iPhone 6’s, although the displays are much bigger and they are powered by a new A8 processor, the price is still the same as the iPhone 5s at launch.
