It started off with the iPhone 5S but it looks like Maxis is slowly expanding its trade-in program to offer you the ability to buy more and more with a trade-in offer. You can now trade in your iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, S4, Xperia Z1, and more, to purchase the new HTC One (M8) and yes, you will still get to enjoy a further discount of RM400 with the on-going Merdeka promotion.
Just like what’s available with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S, you can trade in any phones to get a minimum value of RM200 but if you have one of the devices listed below, you will be entitled for a larger rebate:
It’s also worth noting that since the promotion started, the trade-in value for these devices have depreciated and is reflected in the Samsung Galaxy S5 trade-in program as well. Fortunately, because the telco is still having its on-going Merdeka promotion that offers extra rebates to subscribers, you can enjoy an extra RM400 discount for the HTC One (M8) and extra RM300 off the Samsung Galaxy S5, on top of the trade-in discount and usual subsidy.
As usual, the device you trade in must be in working condition. A simple validation will be performed at a Maxis store to ensure your device is able to power on/off with the ability to access IMEI, the screen is functional and is not cracked, no damaging/missing button or cracked casing, and Find my iPhone must be unlocked for iPhones. No box, charger or other accessories are required for this program so if you wish to get a new device, bring your phone to a Maxis Center or Maxis Exclusive Partner nationwide to find out more.
As always, since the price of smartphone depreciates very quickly, the prices are subjected to change without prior notice. If you wish to enjoy the extra Merdeka promotion rebate, you’ll need to hurry up because the promotion ends on 30 September 2014.
Visit Maxis now to find out more about the trade-in program and just in case, it looks like Maxis has removed the iPhone 5s from its trade-in promotion.
