Alongside the Gear S Smartwatch, Samsung has also announced a new headset – the Gear Circle Bluetooth headset that doubles as a vibrating notifier whilst connected to a user’s smartphone via Bluetooth.
The Samsung Gear Circle isn’t your average Bluetooth headset device. It has a built in mic for users to issue voice commands or reply a short text from the device itself without having to pull out a smartphone. Samsung hasn’t revealed how it is done, but it is likely leveraging on the company’s voice assistant, S Voice to facilitate voice commands on the headset. In many ways, the Gear Circle is something like a smartwatch today, only it interacts with users with voice or vibrating notifications rather than a screen.
Samsung says if users are not listening to music on their smartphone with the Gear Circle, it can be worn as a necklace around the neck, given its minimalist fashionable design with a metallic construction. If you’re not a person who likes to be accessorised, the Gear Circle can also be folded to fit in your pocket.
The device will be shipping with three colours, black, white, and blue, and will start selling in global markets in October after its launch at IFA 2014 in Berlin which will be starting a few days from now, where pricing details should be revealed.
