Afraid that your smartphone or tablet would one day break down and you’ll be left disconnected from the world? Maxis recently launched a Maxis Device Protection (MDP) program, a fast and hassle free program that replaces your device should it be damaged or stolen.
For only RM15/month for devices up to RM1,000 in retail value, or RM29/month for devices (tablets and even iPhone) above RM1,000 in retail value, if you lose, misplace or break your device, Maxis will immediately replace you with a new one – no more waiting for your old phone to be repaired. Every replacement unit will have its own warranty and will automatically be covered by the same MDP program.
MDP covers a comprehensive coverage include accidental damage and theft. Maxis will also give an extended warranty and overseas rental if you have an issue while out of the country.
How it works is if you wish to make a claim, you will need to pay a “one-time claim excess fee” that is 25% of the current retail value of our device plus an additional processing fee of RM100 per claim (express service only). You don’t even need to leave your home, just contact Maxis and provide them with your details, and they will ship a replacement over once payment has been made. Maxis says they will replace with the same make and model of the device if possible otherwise, replacement will be of similar kind and quality. Replacements are often new but could also be reconditioned device with “good as new” quality.
There’s a catch though, sorry for you clumsy ones out there who tend to drop or lose your phone frequently, customers are limited to two service requests in a 12-month period.
In case you’re wondering, U Mobile also has a similar device protection plan called U Care Plus 8. It costs only RM8, but the coverage and how things works is quite different from Maxis so check out or previous post to see what U Mobile has got to offer for its device protection program.
