As crimes and accidents keeps happening every day, MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia’s National Research & Development Centre, has taken the incentive to research this problem by implementing a Rapid Intelligence, Surveillance and Response (RIS) solution to the matter. MIMOS addresses this as part of the Internet of Things (IoT) adoption in Malaysia.
RIS works with a range of wireless devices comprising of Mobile Network, WiFi, Bluetooth, ZigBee sensor, Infrared, P2P and Mesh interconnecting to surveillance cameras such as CCTV’s, cloud computing and smart sensors. MIMOS introduced the Mi-SUNMESH, which stands for MIMOS Surveillance MESH Network that provides unprecedented flexibility and intelligent context-aware streaming control functions.
The key feature of the wireless surveillance used in RIS is how easy it is to deploy this solution as the device uses low power components, powered by solar energy. Best of all, it does not use any cable for the installation. High-gain antennas are also used and placed in strategic locations to expand the network coverage where each camera can be controlled via real time monitoring. Since the goal of this device is for easy implementation, users can add on cameras by simply just plug-and-play. On top of that, it also comes with Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee on voice, video and critical data when being transmitted over the network.
In events such as crimes, accidents, or intrusions, this solution would benefit the consumers by averting any dangerous or suspicious activities inside and outside of either a building or public places. Traffic congestions and violations can be immediately detected via wireless surveillance networks and alerts the respective personnel to the site quickly and efficiently. The data of the events will be recorded yet at the same time relayed to connected devices, showing real time videos and alerts the security personnel. In addition, the respective personnel can communicate to others via push-to-talk (PTT) on smartphones and mobile devices to alert any nearby personnel for a quicker assistance and response to the site.
If RIS is implemented in Malaysia, this will reinforce the security of many people and potential crimes can be avoided before it occurs.
