It looks like Vince Mcmahon is trying to grab a portion of the online CCG market. WWE recently announced the launch of WWE SuperCard, a collectible card game for mobile devices. Players will collect cards representing current and past Wrestling superstars, and battle against opponents over the internet. Booster packs will be available for purchase, although there is no word if it will follow the Hearthstone model and allow people to grind for in-game currency.
WWE promises some 400 individual cards at launch, with more coming as the game expands. Screenshots of the game appear to indicate that there might be multiple copies of the same superstars; each appearing at a different rarity level. There will also be combining mechanic for players to combine cards to increase their power, although it isn’t quite clear how this will work out.
A slight worry is that players will simply have to sit back and watch the game unfold without having any direct influence of it. This is due to the promotional video simply showing the cards leaping around the ring beating the tar out of each other. There is a small amount of cheesy entertainment to it, but the novelty will not last long unless there is more to the game than just collecting cards.
Developed by Cat Daddy Games, a 2K studio, WWE SuperCard will is available for download from tomorrow from the App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon Appstore.
