If you were hoping that Sony will announce a new flagship smartphone in IFA next month that will be different to the existing flagship – Xperia Z2, and will be at least slightly more powerful, then you might be in for a disappointment. According to the latest leak, it looks like the expected Xperia Z3 might pack the exact same hardware as the Xperia Z2.
According to GFXBench benchmark database, Sony has a device called the Sony D6603, also known as the Xperia Z3. On top of showing the scores, it also shows off all of its specs including the same 5.1” 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3GB of RAM and 20MP rear camera.
Disappointed? You’re not alone. But not all hopes are lost of course, according to other leaks, the Xperia Z3 could feature a smaller and thinner design compared to the Xperia Z2, a change that is welcomed on all smartphones. Sony is also believed to be working on the camera, hopefully featuring the new curved camera sensor that was introduced about two months ago. Sony is expected to unveil the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact in IFA happening in early September 2014.
