A petition to get the late Robin Williams immortalised in World of Warcraft has succeeded in gaining over 10,000 signatures in 24 hours. Williams was an avid WoW player in his lifetime, and fans of the game thought that it would be a good idea to memorialise the actor as an NPC within the game he loved.
The beloved actor was discovered yesterday in an apparent suicide. A statement from the comedian’s spokeswoman indicated that he had been battling severe depression. According to the petition description, Williams “used to play on the Mannoroth server, and was something of a troll in trade on good days or when anonymity allowed”. It also claims that he often joked about his WoW addiction but also about the reactions he’d get from other gamers when he admits he plays the game.

Blizzard Technical Game Designer Nervigg confirmed that the company is working on it, although how this NPC will be appearing or what he will do is still uncertain. Fans are already requesting quests based on Williams’ work, or a bard in the likeness of one of his characters telling jokes in a common area. Whatever it is, the comedian will live on in the game he spent so much time on.
