Sony Mobile has announced an Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Xperia E1 and E1 Dual smartphones. This update will add visual changes, improvement to performance, new additional features and apps to the entry-level phones.
In line with the new visual changes on KitKat, Sony has added a transparent Status Bar and Quick Settings to the notifications bar. Users will also be able to move apps from their phone to the microSD card to free up internal storage.
The live wallpaper and launch animation have also been changed to a familiar look, similar to the PlayStation 4 background, while users can take advantage of the Xperia Themes, Sony’s customization app that allows you to customise your phone from 280 different and unique themes.
In addition, Sony’s built-in apps such as Album, Movies and Walkman have also been updated, while apps like Smart Connect, Battery STAMINA Mode and TrackID will be introduced in the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
The Xperia E1 and E1 Dua are entry level smartphones that were released in March 2014, and were previously running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. In addition to this update, Sony has also announced that the Xperia M2 and M2 Dual will be the next devices in line for an update to Android 4.4 in the near future.
