Dell has announced a new, petite addition to the Alienware family: the Alienware 13. A spiritual successor to the discontinued Alienware 11, the Alienware 13 finally gives Dell an alternative for gamers seeking a powerful but small gaming laptop that won’t break your back.

Measuring less than an inch thick and weighing a little over 2kg (2.04kg), the Alienware 13 offers a nice balance between power and portability. Sporting an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M GPU and a choice of Intel Core processors, Dell claims that it will offer configuration options for Intel’s upcoming Broadwell refresh later this year.

As is Dell’s wont, the company is offering plenty of configuration options for the Alienware 13. The notebook will come standard with a 1366 x 768 non-touch display, but you can bump it up to a Full HD one…or go all out with a 2560 x 1440 touch screen. For comparison, the Razer Blade 14 packs a 3200 x 1800 touch panel. On the other hand, you’ll also be able to choose from various storage options, from hard disk drives to SSDs.

Other hardware specs and connectivity options were also not revealed, though from the press images here, it appears that the laptop sports the usual set of ports: three USB ports, HDMI-out, RJ-45, and SD card slot. This lack of information may also be due to the actual release date: the Alienware 13 will only be available from November onwards, which is still a long way to go – so there could be some changes along the way.
