Electronic Arts’ Origin Game Time is back to provide gamers with a limited time demo of another triple A title. Two months ago, Origin users were treated to a free weekend of playing Titanfall; this time they will be able to enjoy a full week of Battlefield 4. Users will have until 14 August to add Battlefield Game Time to their account, after which they will be able to start the one week trial whenever they feel like it.
Origin Game Time is similar to the Free Weekend found on Steam, and allows players to try games that they may might not have tried. Although in Origin’s case it might be more about convincing people to pick up that game that they have been dawdling on for the last couple of months. Like the previous Game Time, the one week will begin when the player first starts up the game and runs in real time. While EA is saying that this provides 168 hours of gameplay (which is technically true) it assumes that the person at the computer will not be attending any other biological needs for that amount of time.
However, as part of the deal, all progress is saved to the Battlefield servers; so players who decide that they do want to continue playing and buy the game will not have to start over from scratch. This also means that the next couple of weeks will see a massive influx of newbie in BF4, which will provide veteran players with ample sitting ducks to shoot at and earn more xp.
